With over 40 years of service at the Smithfield Fire Department, Lou made a lasting impact by founding the department’s first Honor Guard, dedicated to honoring the legacy of fallen firefighters and veterans. He served as Commander of the Guard until his retirement in 2023 and now continues his commitment to service as the Fire Chief of the Prudence Island Volunteer Fire Department. We echo this sentiment from his neighbor Patty, who nominated him: “We can’t think of a more deserving recipient! Thank you, Lou!” (Photo featured is the creative way Patty announced to Lou he won a hot tub at their neighborhood Halloween Party this past weekend)!
